Heavy-metal band Slipknot has announced a 2022 tour that will finish in Chula Vista, giving fans in the San Diego area a hometown stop on the schedule.

The band confirmed its dates and destinations on Tuesday. The outing, called the "Knotfest Roadshow," has Slipknot as headliner and is split into two parts across the spring and early summer, with 38 dates in total.

Joining the band on the first leg will be In This Moment and Jinger. For the second half of the trek, the supporting acts will be hip-hop group Cypress Hill and Ho99o9.

The first stretch begins March 16 at the FargoDome in North Dakota and ends April 17 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. After a break of about a month, the Roadshow resumes May 18 at the Bryce Jordan Center in Philadelphia.

The tour's final show is set for exactly one month after that restart, on June 18, at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista.

Lead vocalist Corey Taylor said the band is eager to get back to performing for fans across the country. "Even with everything going on in the world right now, we're still extremely excited to come back out in the states," he said in a statement.

Taylor also spoke about his own experience with COVID-19. He tested positive last summer and described it as the sickest he has been in his 48 years. "This is the worst I've ever been sick in my life; had I not been vaccinated, I shudder to think how bad it would've been," he said.

He credited vaccination with helping him recover. "But, because I had that extra little bit of protection, it definitely helped me get through it," Taylor said, urging anyone still undecided to get vaccinated, which he called "the best thing you can do for yourself."

Tickets for the Knotfest Roadshow 2022 go on sale this Friday, January 21.
