Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Aiden Rosebeck was arrested on a class 5 felony charge of unlawful sexual conduct involving a police officer. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody late Sunday, Nov. 1, and he remained in jail as of Monday night.
The incident occurred following a hit-and-run crash outside of Benson. A woman’s vehicle was stuck on the roadside after the collision. According to the CCSO, Rosebeck arrived at the scene before other deputies responded to the original call.
The CCSO stated that the woman reported inappropriate sexual conduct with the trooper who responded to her crash. The department noted that the alleged act took place during their investigation of the vehicle’s condition.
Rosebeck acknowledged having a physical interaction with the woman during the incident. Sheriff Mark Dannels emphasized that an officer’s badge does not grant immunity from accountability. He stated that when a driver is stranded, they should trust that a stopping officer is there to protect them, not to take advantage of their circumstances.
Dannels added that any allegation of an officer abusing their position of authority is a serious matter demanding immediate attention. He thanked the DPS for its cooperation during the investigation.
DPS confirmed the investigation and stated that Rosebeck, who joined the department in 2020, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. The AZDPS Internal Affairs Unit is conducting a separate administrative investigation while the CCSO handles the criminal case.
AZDPS Director Colonel Jeffrey Glover said the department has an absolute obligation to uphold public trust. He noted that they take allegations of misconduct seriously and will hold personnel fully accountable to departmental standards without exception. The investigation is ongoing, and the CCSO is asking anyone with information to call 520-432-9500.
