Three children experienced potential choking hazards from Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels soft-baked bars, according to a statement released by the company. The Food and Drug Administration confirmed the recall after receiving reports that the snack bars caused complete airway obstruction in toddlers.
The FDA advisory states that the product forms a dry, sticky mass when chewed. This texture may resist standard first aid measures like back blows or the Heimlich maneuver. Some incidents required emergency response intervention and subsequent hospital observation. The agency did not specify the total number of reports it received.
The recall covers all Tractor Wheels varieties, including Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach; Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet; and Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower. Every lot code and expiration date is affected. No other products from the brand are included in the recall.
John Foraker, CEO of Once Upon a Farm, said the company is reformulating the bars to ensure they adhere to the highest standards. Foraker noted that the company’s mission is to drive systemic improvement in childhood nutrition by doing what is right for customers.
The bars are available at Costco, Target, Walmart, Amazon.com, and most other grocery and retail stores across the United States. Customers should not open or consume the recalled items. Shoppers can return the product to the point of purchase for a full refund or email care@uponafarm.com for assistance.
