The 2026 WNBA Finals will conclude with a Game 6 tipoff at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, October 29. The Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries are tied 2-2 in the series. This schedule places the decisive game in the middle of a workday lunch break for East Coast viewers. For fans in the West, the broadcast occurs during the morning hours.

The match is set to take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The league made this venue and time selection only hours before the start of Game 5 on Monday. This decision resolves a scheduling conflict that arose because the arena is also hosting an NBA game that evening.

An NBA regular-season contest between the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers is scheduled for the same night. To allow staff to convert the court from the WNBA layout to the NBA configuration, the Hawks game was moved from its original 7 p.m. start time to 8 p.m. This change creates a tight window for the WNBA championship festivities. If the Dream or the Valkyries clinch the title in Game 6, the on-court celebration and media availability must end quickly to prepare for the men's game.

According to reports from ESPN, league officials have discussed moving the title-winning celebration to a practice facility to avoid cutting the event short. The Dream have used State Farm Arena as a temporary home for marquee games this season. They played five regular-season contests and the first two rounds of the playoffs at the 17,000-seat venue. The team is scheduled to make State Farm Arena its permanent home next year.

The Dream normally play at the Gateway Center, a 3,500-seat facility. The league considered hosting Game 6 at the Gateway Center at the previously planned 8 p.m. slot. However, the team and the league opted for the larger arena despite the logistical complications. Valkyries owner Joe Lacob publicly commented on the scheduling moves for previous games, indicating a preference for the larger venue to accommodate media and fans.

The series features the emergence of Angel Reese, who was traded to Atlanta in April, and the success of the Golden State Valkyries as a second-year expansion team. Both clubs have generated strong attendance and interest. The league and team ownership faced a choice between a smaller, darker arena and a lunchtime slot in a larger building. They selected the latter to avoid the visual constraints of the Gateway Center.

The 2018 Seattle Storm won a Finals sweep at EagleBank Arena near Fairfax, Virginia, because their home arena was under renovation. The Washington Mystics won the 2019 Finals in a 4,200-seat arena in Washington, D.C. Those games occurred in less-than-ideal settings, but the atmosphere remained strong. The current situation differs in that the league has greater financial resources to manage scheduling conflicts.

Game 3 of the Finals was moved from October 22 to October 21 to avoid a concert at the arena. Game 4 was scheduled for 1 p.m. to accommodate the Hawks' home opener against the Houston Rockets. Both games sold out. The league prioritized the use of State Farm Arena for the decisive game despite the earlier precedent of adjusting times for NBA fixtures.
