The Minnesota Timberwolves face a 236-point scoring projection in their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. The SportsLine Projection Model simulates each NBA game 10,000 times to generate these predictions. For this specific contest, the model identifies the Over on the 231.5 total as the primary pick.
Cleveland holds a 5.5-point favorite status for the game, which tips off at 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena. The Cavaliers currently sit at 1-1 in the 2026-27 season. They secured a 125-121 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Minnesota enters the game with a 3-0 record, having defeated the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday.
Anthony Edwards remains a key uncertainty for the visitors. He is listed as questionable due to knee injury management. If he plays, his early season performance has been strong. Edwards averages 28.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals in 31.3 minutes per game. Six different Timberwolves players are currently averaging at least 12 points per game.
The Cavaliers rely on Donovan Mitchell for their offensive production. In two starts, Mitchell averages 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block in 35.5 minutes. The model notes that the Over has hit in each of the last four head-to-head meetings between these two teams. The total has also cleared the line in five of Minnesota's last eight games and seven of Cleveland's last ten.
The SportsLine model has generated nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated NBA picks since 2018. It has posted five consecutive seasons of four-digit profit in this category. Entering the second week of the current season, the model holds a 26-10 record on top-rated spread picks dating back to the previous campaign.
The projection of 236 combined points suggests the Over hits 56% of the time based on the 10,000 simulations. The model also indicates that one side of the point spread hits over 60% of the time. Cleveland's home record stands at 1-0 for the 2026-27 season, while Minnesota is 2-0 on the road.
