Major league sports events frequently feature high-profile musical acts, and the National Football League has confirmed a new headliner for its 2027 championship game. Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The NFL, Apple Music, and Jay-Z announced the selection on Monday. The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027. This marks the rapper's first time headlining the event, despite his long-standing industry connections to previous performers.
Jay-Z's production company, Roc Nation, has managed the halftime show since 2019. The company recently signed a five-year contract extension to continue in that role through 2029. Under Roc Nation's direction, recent shows have emphasized hip-hop and rap genres. Last year's show in Santa Clara, California, featured Bad Bunny alongside Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Los Angeles has hosted Super Bowl halftime performances before. The 2022 show included Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, with appearances by 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak. Other recent headliners include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023.
Jay-Z, a 25-time Grammy winner, is currently touring to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. His tour began in July with three shows at Yankee Stadium. He subsequently performed in London and Paris in September.
The rapper concluded his current tour on October 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium. These final shows occurred just three days before the announcement of his Super Bowl date. The venue will serve as the site for his upcoming February performance.
