Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027. The announcement comes after the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation confirmed the lineup on Monday night. The event is scheduled for SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
This marks a shift in Jay-Z’s role with the league. Since 2019, Roc Nation has advised on and produced the NFL’s entertainment presentations. During that initial partnership, the rapper told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now." Seven years later, he is stepping into the spotlight himself.
The selection follows a multi-city concert tour that concluded in the Los Angeles area. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, closed his "Jay-Z 30" residency over the weekend. The tour began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York before moving to London and finishing in Southern California.
The artist holds 25 Grammy Awards and has received 89 nominations. He ranks second in history for nominations, behind his wife, Beyoncé, who has performed at two previous Super Bowls. His discography includes albums such as "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and "The Black Album." Tracks like "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," "99 Problems," and "Empire State of Mind" remain popular staples in his catalog.
His 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," entered the Grammy Hall of Fame last year. Beyond music, Jay-Z has built Roc Nation into a major entertainment company founded in 2008. The firm manages artists and athletes and handles publishing. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 as the first rapper. He joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
The previous halftime show featured Bad Bunny in February. Streaming data showed sharp increases for his songs on charts and discovery platforms in the hours after that performance. The next halftime show is set for Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium.
